Course Search in Connect Carolina

The Office of the University Registrar maintains a course search engine for classes offered every term. This search engine can be accessed from the Registrar’s website  or through Connect Carolina in the Student Services Center (ONYEN and password required). To search for open seats in an FYS, set the course number criteria to “less than or equal to 89” and select the “Show Open Classes Only” box. Use the additional search criteria to narrow your search.

First Year Seminar Brochure

The First Year Seminar Brochure lists and describes the courses that are planned.  For the fall semester, the brochure is published and distributed to students at New Student Orientation (NSO). For the spring semester, the FYS course listing is posted to the FYS website.

General Education Requirements

Information about the requirements fulfilled by each First Year Seminar can be found in ConnectCarolina and the Undergraduate Bulletin. The information is also listed in the brochure or course listing for each semester. First Year Seminars numbered “89″ are rotating topics courses that do not carry the same General Education designations from semester to semester. For information about what requirements are fulfilled by a FYS 89 in a particular semester, please consult this list:
